Neither of them look very stable; the feet look too short to be safe
(appear to be about 15 / 18" long).

And they are easily adaptable for Apple as well.

We are. You do know that "homebuilt" in both the groups names applies
to computers, not desks?

Cheers - Jaimie

It's the computer that will go under/on the desk that is homebuilt - more or less. I think the sound
card is the only bit left from when it was a build to order back in 2002.

Seriously, this time, I would have thought it would be ok, just as long as
it has some means of securing it to the wall. Free-standing, it looks
completely wrong to me. Also, from the pics, it's pretty ugly. Have you seen
one at Ikea?

Jolly good. The desks look pretty shallow to me, unless you've got a
very small case (or mount it sideways) it'll stick out rather.

Looks like a severe attack of form over function. Trot along to your
nearest used office furniture shop and you should be able to get
something 10 times as solid for less money - unless you really care what
the label is, or course.

Mine is Herman Miller (£10 - OK, we were closing the factory) and an
anonymous trolley with a home made top (£free, if I'd just take it
away).
The Herman Miller can take a 20"+ CRT and someone standing on it, both
at once. Cabling system too - not that I can be bothered to thread it.

It's 62 cms deep. That's plenty for the PC, and enough for a keyboard and
TFT screen. Not enough for a CRT, though.

OK. Allow 10+cm for cable bends and air exhaust gap, and that just
about fits.

I've always thought that my next desk will be a stand
up desk.

One that I could use while standing upright on my feet
... or using a bar stool height chair if wanting to set
down

I think being able to stand up would be healthier at
times.

I know what you mean. I'm rather tempted to get a recumbent exercise
bike, or maybe a running machine, to put under my next build.

I work from home. It promotes indolence, which promotes
waist-inches...

I was only joking, because I thought you were, but you weren't, were you?
lol!

Heh! Joking-only-serious, really. If I could burn up calories while
reading Usenet I'd need a complete new wardrobe in a month due to
losing ten kilos!
