New Dell Laptop; wont access internet on LAN connection

My new Dell PC when connected to a LAN connection will
stop communicating to the Internet after about 30
minutes. Hard coding the IP address seemed to correct
this.

When it does stop working on the internet, it still
communicates on the LAN to the internal network server.
 
Hi Joe,

Here are some things to try when you have the problem.
1. got to command prompt
2. type ipconfig /flushdns
3. Ping www.ty.com. do we resolve the name to a ipaddress?
4. At the command prompt type nslookup
5. Then type server 4.2.2.1 . Do you receive the following:
server 4.2.2.1

Default Server: [4.2.2.1]
Address: 4.2.2.1

What type of DNS server do you have?
