New definitions are available on Microsoft Update - 1.13.1276.16

If you have auto update turned-on, you should get these automatically soon.

For some reason Windows Defender Beta 2 is not updating? Both
automatically and manually?
History in Windows UpDates shows it installed successfully 11 times,
but the shield showing it is ready to be downloaded keeps reappearing.

In Checking Windows Defender 2 history it still shows definintions 27
days old.

Had NO problems updating Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta 1.

Security Programs running are Free Zone Alarm, Norton Systemworks anti
virus,
SpywareBlaster, SpywareGuard, SpyBot Search and Destroy (TeaTimer), StartUp
Monitor, limited ewido (after the 2 weeks free trial), I know some duplicate
but have seen instances where 3 programs notify me, and then sometimes just
one.

Thanks

Thank You Bill, How did I miss that in searching the faqs and help file?
I probably searched using the wrong terms.

A setting I would like to see added, would be to daily scans. I would
prefer to mainly do Quick scans but at least 2 days a week I would like to
set it for a full or deep scan. Currently the option for auto scanning is
either one or the other. Not who I could ask to put it on the "wish" list.

Again Thanks

That's an off-label use of that KB article, but it seems to work, in many
instances.

Scans are done by a command-line program \program files\windows
defender\mpcmdrun.exe

you can run it and see the arguments possible, but:

mpcmdrun signatureupdate

should update sigs

mpcmdrun scan scantype 1 should run a quickscan
mpcmdrun scan should run a full scan

There's some debate about whether you need a dash in front of the
scantype--and I'm uncertain--it is hard to see what is happening.

OK--the view of the scan in progress has kicked in--I'd say this looks like
a quickscan, but a fullscan is probably preceded by a quickscan
anyway--won't know for awhile.

Anyway--go to Control Panel, performance, maintenance, tec, Scheduled Tasks.
Then go to advanced (on xp) and tell it to show hidden tasks. You will see
the scheduled scan there, and can create your alternatives--the scheduler is
very flexible--you can make it do exactly what you'd like--you may need to
create small batch jobs--say, to update signatures and then do a scan--but
you can make it do whatever you please--but of course, you'll need to
remember what you set up and how.
