New DDR check!

I have just got two sticks of Kingston PC3200 512MB 3-3-3.

I set FSB to 215 (1:1) and timing to 3-3-3-8 on my ASUS P4P800 deluxe and
ran prime95 torture test for 7 hours and got no errors. Is this enough to
confirm that neither of the two sticks is faulty. Or, should I use memtest
instead, or what?

I would like to know if either of them is not good as soon as possible to
return it.

How should I test them?

Memtest86 from memtest.org would be my primary test. The fact that prime95
torture test runs is "icing on the cake". Memtest tests all of the memory,
even the area where the code for the program resides. It is a complete
test, in that sense.

Prime95 will allocate a buffer for itself, testing a section of the
RAM only. The value of Prime95 is in thrashing the bus, and looking for
weakness in the terminator supply or in the Northbridge.

If you find memtest hanging, remember there is a bug with the
USB legacy setting in the BIOS. Disabling USB legacy support should
allow the program to run with no problems.

ASUS should pay Paul for the help he has provided here. I bet he has
saved a few million boards from getting RMA'd by now!
