I'm using Access 2003 but when I create a new db, then it
says that it is a 2000 file format...why not 2003 format ?

Access 2003 (and 2002) use Access 2000 format by default, to avoid causing
problems for people who need to share databases with others who are still
using the older version. You can convert an existing database to the new
format (Tools, Database Utilities, Convert Database) and, if you do not need
to share databases with Access 2000 users, you can change the default for
new databases (Tools, Options, Advanced, Default File Format).

The default file format for Access 2003 (and Access 2002, for that matter)
is the Access 2000 file format. This was done to maximize the possibility of
sharing the database (although if you're using new features of either Access
2002 or Access 2003, your application won't actually work with Access 2000,
even though it's in the Access 2000 file format...)

If you want to change the file format, look under Tools | Database
Utiltities.

If you want to change the default file format, look under Tools | Options.

Thanks. I did not know that.
