I installed it but when I try to run the Audio Console I get the following
message:
"The audio device supported by this application is not detected. The
application will exit."
Ok... nice.
Sigh...
I still have sound but without the ability to access the audio console I'm
not able to make any real adjustments or test out past missing features
(like surround sound.) I work on this later as I don't have time to work on
it now.
I have repeatedly asked Creative whether they plan to port their audio
utilities, such as Recorder, SoundFont Manager, the equalizer, etc. to
Vista, as few of these function under that platform, no doubt due to the
reality that audio is handled substantially differently in Vista than in
its predecessor operating systems.
To date all responses have been standard boilerplate "we do not support
beta applications." XP would not run some of their applications that
were bundled in the Win '95/'98 era, but they came out with a
"fulfillment" disk that updated them. Perhaps Creative will do the same
with Vista.
Audio drivers, on the otherhand, have remained relatively consistent.
Here XP drivers appear to function well in Vista beta.
