Hello,
The issue is that as of the Dec 11th patches which I received on the 12th
I can no longer keep Internet Explorer up it crashes every time I open it.
The pages are slow or not responding and the whole computer is slow. I have
sent error reports but that does not help me solve the problem. I noticed
that there were some IE 6.0 patches as well as win xp patches in Tuesdays
upgrades but do not know where the problem lies. It has happened only since
the update and no other changes have been made to the system or software. How
can I tell which ones to remove? If I should remove? How can I solve this
issue?

Thanks Jeff Hill

Hi

Yes it is occuring for me too. I have done extensive tests on 5 different
workstation build images where the only thing installed is the OS with all
updates. I continue to get IE 6 crashes after installing the latest Windows
Updates. I am going to uninstall KB942615 until MS corrects the problem with
the update.

There's a post a few post down. Suggestion is to remove Kb942615. Seems there
may be a problem with it and IE6. See the post about error messages down
below.

David and Pretender,
I just did a test and there are 5 other KB's and 2 net frameworks that are
dependencies and all need to be removed. I have done so rebooted and the
problem is gone.
The KB's are
KB937894
KB941568
KB941569
KB942615
KB942763
KB942840
net framework 2.0 SP1
net framework 3.0 SP1
All of the above stop working if you take out the KB942615. It seems
that this was the patches for the 11th. So there is a bug amongst them

Are you saying that the patches can be downloaded and the KB 942367 will cure
what ails it ??

Does everyone agree that it's best to remove all 8 Kbs as suggested by
KestrelVT? I looked at Kb942367 and none of the last 8 Kb updates are listed
as pertaining to the issue that the hotfix refers to. I respect your advice,
but would appreciate some clarification on why this hotfix might be helpful
currently.

Yes, applying the hotfix *and* doing the Registry edit is what MS is
recommending for those running IE6 in WinXP who are getting IE crashes
(pointing to URLMON.DLL) after installing 942615.

Turn off your anti-virus and anti-spyware programs and uninstall KB942615.
Then reinstall it and then turn them back on.

PA Bear:

I've had the same problem.

I did the reg. edit as per the MS article and all is now working.

It is loading much faster.

Frank,
Thanks I did as suggested and problem continued. I uninstalled the batch
of updates again and all works fine. Didn't cure it for me.I will reinstall
the updates when hopefully there is a sure cure.

I gave up and went to IE7.
