I have windows xp, gateway computer. I just bought a new gateway cordless
keyboard. I downloaded the software, but now the typing keys will work, but
the buttons on the side of the keyboard like cut, paste, calculator, etc
won't work. I have tried reinstalling and still doesn't work.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

No, I didn't contact Gateway. Last time I contacted them I waited for over
40 minutes on hold.

You may have to go into Control Panel>Keyboards and configure those keys
manually.

Okay, this is interesting - after just reinstallingn items I got the cut,
copy and paste keys to work, but the calculator key won't. Any ideas why
this is???

I just wrote to say just the calculator hot key didn't work, none of the
other ones do either except the cut copy and paste. Seems like something is
just not calibrated or set up right. Thanks for your help. Gateway didn't
know diddly squat!!!!

Start, control panel switch to classic view. Double click on keyboard,
click on key settings tab. Check to see that they are properly configured,
if they are then you may need to choose to browse to a file to choose the
program to open. But first, go to the wireless receiver and there should be
a button on it. Push that. If still no joy, on the underside of the
keyboard you'll find a connect channel button. Push that in with a pin or
pen tip. The keyboard should have come with directions that explains
channel selecting if things don't work properly.

There is no key settings tab under keyboard. But the cut, copy and paste
work, but non of the calculator, go forward, go back, refresh, etc work? I
have pushed the connect buttons, but that didn't help.
Any more ideas? Thanks.

Would it make any difference that I have a logitech cordless mouse and am
not using the gateway cordless mouse? I don't like the feel of the gateway.
But this wouldn't really account for why some of the buttons work and others
don't, would it?

It could be a conflict between the two receivers. Locate the gateway manual
or perhaps some directions that came on the CD with the new keyboard and see
if there is any hint there. Most likely you need to change channels on one
or both or better yet, get a compatible logitech keyboard to go with the
mouse so you only have to use one receiver.
