At what seems to be random times when I enter a new contact in Outlook (hit
"New Contact" button while Contacts are open in Outlook and typing in the
information) and hit "Save and Close" the contact appears to save properly.
When I open Contacts the next day after turning on my computer, starting
Outlook and hitting the Contacts shortcut the contact entered the day before
has dissapeared. Any ideas?

Do you have more than one contacts folder? If so, have you checked all of
them to make sure the new contacts aren't being saved to one of the other
folders?

Yes I do have more than one contacts folder but let me add some detail. In
the situation I'm talking about I always access my contacts from the shortcut
bar at the left of the Outlook screen. I only have one contact folder with an
associated shortcut So...I should be consistantly saving to the same folder.
Also one other detail. I generally keep my contacts sorted by company when I
have a "disippearingcontact" I will look for ir in address card view.
Sometimes but not alwise I will find a contact where the name field contains
a "Q" ollowed by a number while the rest of the fields are for the contact
that has dissapeared.

Any one with anymore ideas?

Are you using a .PST file? If so, try running the Inbox Repair Tool against
it to see if it finds any errors. Search your drive for a file called
scanpst.exe and run it. Allow the program to make a backup of your file
before it makes any changes.

I found the scanpst file where does Outlook hide the contact data
files?

Contacts are stored with all of your other Outlook data in the Personal
Folders file (PST). The default location is %UserProfile%\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook, which is a hidden folder.
