Big surprise guys, So do i;
As far as i can determine, it seems to have something to do with the use
of an Office version older than 2003.
While it is stated in many other Vista newsgroup topics that Vista
supports Office 2000 upward, there seems to be a conflict between Outlook and
Windows Mail, that is barely hinted at, but that no one is actively
aknowledging (All being too buzy, sucking up to MS. They are in complete
denial that Vista is anything other than the greatest gift to mankind by the
almighty.)
I am using Office 2000 with Outlook 2002 (Never had any problems with
that combination in XP SP2) and have the same problem not only with Contacts
but also with ALL Office applications. I have found the cause to be
activating an Office app while online; after which it becomes nessessary to
repair Office by using the installation disk, BUT it does not fix the problem
of adding Contacts in Vista (which is a Vista problem, not an Office
problem). Get the picture ?
Being that one only ever uses Windows Mail while online there is a
permanent flaw in the source code, which can only be repaired by reinstalling
Vista, but the first time you go online the problem WILL return.
My next attempt will be to try adding contacts to Outlook instead. There
may be a problem to do with which of the two progs is DEFAULT mail handler,
that can be easely investigated.
If you can live without it, then delete Outlook. Vista has its own
Calender & notes etc !
As i need Outlook to Sync my PDA, i cannot delete it.
Good luck !
