New connection wizard

[Hal]

O/S Win XPPro, v5.1.2600, svc pac 1, build 2600.
Attempting to set up dial-up connection, the wizard does
not offer the option of connect using dial-up modem under
manual setup. Modem is installed and is working properly.

Possibly related, the modem is set to Com3. Only com1&2
are shown in device manager, and I cannot add Com3 thru
add new hardware.

Any ideas?

Do you mean the option in the wizard is grayed out? If so, have a look at

This is the same problem I have now. See the post
I wrote this morning:Cannot create a dial-up connection.
The problem is not solved yet.
