I asked this question yesterday but got answers which wouldn't work. I had a
hard drive from old computer which was windows 98SE and need to get the
information onto new hard drive which is XP. They are both installed in my
new computer. THe most important stuff that I am having problems with is my
internet explorer favorites, Outlook express messages which are saved in
folders and some which are just still in the inbox.
I also had a lot of stuff saved on old desktop also my photos and music
files and folders. I had hoped Dell would be able to assist me but after
being transferred 8 times and being on phone 3 1/2 hours and all the
frustration I just don't kow what to do.
One of the things I was told here was to use the import feature to import
my bookmarks but got message that it couldn't find it. The other about
Outlook Express was just to tell me how to back up which is not what I am
trying to do.

I don't use OE but for IE...

If you don't EXPORT to a single HTML file, then you cannot use IMPORT.

You can still copy the contents of the Favorites folder on Win98 SE to
the new Favorites folder in XP. The locations of the Favorites folder
can vary. Mine in Win98 SE is C:\Windows\Favorites and I believe this
applies to XP:
Favorites location in Windows XP if installed on C:
C:\Documents and Settings\logon_name\Favorites

I tried this but most of these folders say empty. Therefore I have not been
able to find all the most current sites I had saved. I copies and then
pasted what I could but would like to find the list of favorites which are
more current than these.

Look at all Favorites folders on your drive. If you saved favorites,
then they should be in one such folder.
