Just bought a new computer and i want to transfer my data from my old
computer to the new one. I do not have a cd writer on the old one and my
data is to big for a floppy. Any idea on how i can do this.

Any advise would be helpfull.

Thank-You

Tim.

You will have to network the computers. How to do it depends upon the
hardware installed in each respective computer at the time you want to do it
and the operating system installed.

Nic cards can be purchased for about $15 these days. A short cat. 5 cable
may be about $10.

You can also put the drive from the old computer inst the new computer as a
slave drive and copy over the information.

There are several choices. Here are a few ways:

1. E-mail the data from the old machine and read it on the new
one.

2. Network the two machines and transfer the data over the
network.

3. Remove the drive from the old computer and install it
temporarily (or even pemanently) in the new computer.

4. Use floppies and span the larger files over several diskettes
using a file splitting program (or any standard zip utility,
which can also do this).

5. If you have a CD-writer on the new computer, remove it and
install it temporarily on the old one.

Which of these is best for you depends on several things: how
much data you have to transfer, whether you plan to keep the old
computer, whether you are willing to spend a few dollars, etc.

Hi,
Did you get an answer to your question?
How about installing the old HD into the new PC?
