New Computer on its way... what to do for first power up?

Hi,

My new computer has begun to arrive (the case got here today). This
my first attempt at building a PC, although I have pretty much swapped
out every component of my various PC's at home and at work. I'm not
too concerned about physically putting it together, but I do have a
question about powering it up for the first time.

My MoBo is an ASUS P4C800E-Deluxe, CPU is a P4 3.2GHz, 1GB RAM,
2x120GB Seagate HD's to run as a RAID 0, an ATI 9800XT and an Audigy
2. So, once I get it all put together and turn it on, then what?

I know for the RAID with WinXP I have to load the RAID drivers
before XP, but the ASUS manual is not clear about how. Also, will the
BIOS autoconfigure my video, sound and RAM setup. If not what do I
have to do. Again, I've read the ASUS manual, but it almost seems too
easy. I feel like I am missing something.
Any advice or pointers?

Thanks,

Andy

Nice system, almost the same as I'm building, but I'm using an Intel
mobo, D865PERL. The quick start guide to this mobo tells how to set up
RAID 0 with WINXP. I attached it here with info on setting up the
Intel BIOS. If you don't get the attachments, search the Intel site
for the quick start guide for D865PERL. My mobo also has dual memory
banks. We're gonna have screamin' machines!

I don't think the attachments made it.

Ram will be OK. Auto. Video will be base VGA without XP (OS) and will
probably need the drivers that came with the card, unless XP is happy to
pick the card up. Same for the sound.

Just for the record IMO raid is a pain in the arse !
I have 2x40 gig striped. Its great untill you need to reinstall the OS. For
my XP objected big time.

Dont forget either the VIA drivers or the NForce drivers, or ( chipset
equivalent ). They are for the Motherboard. You will have to set the RAID up
in the BIOS first, and also the drivers through XP.

RAID can be a bit fiddly. It is mostly pretty straight forward though !

Good luck...
