New computer lag on startup

I have a Dell inspiron 1520 witha 2.0 dual, 3gigs of ram and a 8600gt running
vista home premium
when my computer has startes up (after login) it runs normaly for less than
a minuter and the lags massivly (cant do much more than move the mouse) until
a minute or so later starts working perficaly
i have gone into msconfig and dissabled all startup programs exept windows
stuff and bit defender

You might want to post your question to a newsgroup with "Windows" in the
description. This is a .Net programming newsgroup.

BTW, if you are running Vista, I wouldn't assume there's anything wrong.
