Cheryl,
I guess that you do not have much experience installing operating systems?
If this is the case, my suggestion would be to ring round your local
computer repair shops and find out how much it would cost, for you to pop it
in and have it done properly. I would also talk to them about having all the
service packs and hotfixes loaded, along with a decent firewall and
anti-virus product. Without the service packs, hotfixes, firewall, and AV
you will find yourself hacked and infected with viruses very soon after
connecting to the internet.
Your local shop should also be able to setup your internet settings and get
your mail moved over from your old PC. You will probably also want something
like works or office, and they will be able to help you with this.
Asking around, you may find you have a local computer 'techie' that will do
this in his spare time for some pocket/beer money..
What may be more helpful is if you posted to the group, stating your
country/area, asking if anyone would consider doing this or can recommend
anyone.
