The Titanic was owned and run by a company named White Star Lines. It sank. Life was lost.
There was in fact no Buddy Holly Airlines but it's fairly common knowledge that he died in a plane crash along with other passengers on the same plane. So, just for the sake of this little ephitet we'll make believe that Buddy Holly Airlines was the company that owned and ran the airplane that Buddy Holly took off in. It crashed, life was lost. If you no know Buddy Holly substitute Glenn Miller. Or perhaps Manchester United football team or.... take your choice.
A tenuous link I grant you and not a full blown rib-tickler but nevertheless my somewhat whimsical attempt at a little light humour.
Yep I picked up on Mr Flopp's little quip too..
For information the big Bopper and Ricky Valence also died in that air crash, Zema thanks for that second vid, very interesting stuff.
I watched both vids, fascinating stuff, I like the fact The Olympic sliced a U-Boat in two Rah!
btw, my reasoning behind asking the Historical one whether he flew the Stars & Stripes was the fact it seems us Brits and our colonial cousins often have different senses of humour and I have found myself frequently having to explain jokes I make to those residing on the other side of the pond.
And FWIW, my quip was stolen from an old recording of Billy Connolly's, you could say I'm something of a magpie when it comes to stealing humorous one-liners
That was a very interesting video Zema thanks for posting, I guess that Mr Historian is just a little older than me and I am a little older than Mr Flops, where as flops and I are the generation who were fans and listened to the Buddy Hollies, Big Boper (Hello Babe) and Ricky Valance he was more into the late 40's and early 50's music and the crash would not have registered with him as it did with us.
