ATi have just released a new capture driver (seems they're not going to
coordinate capture and display drivers any more, although this is referred
to as version 3.09), version 6.14.10.6224.

Just off to try it, patrickp

Do you uninstall the old capture driver and install the new one?
Or did you have to install the 3.9 Cat driver again?

ATI doesn't say what has changed with the newer capture driver.

I uninstalled everything and reinstalled. The new cat-uninstaller clears
out the registry entries very effectively, although it only removes those
and not files. No problems.

These capture drivers are included in the one-file package w. CAT 3.9 as
well as the OGL-fix version of CAT 3.9.

How do I find out the version of capture drivers installed on my system?

I downloaded and installed the 25 meg Cat 3.9 update package (released on
11/5). Do I already have the 6.14.10.6224 WDM drivers?

Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> Sound, video
and game controllers -> ATI WDM Rage Theater Video -> Driver

"Fortunately, Device Manager can be more easily run by launching
devmgmt.msc - just create a shortcut to the file (as described above),
and launch it at any time."

To get to device manager I use windows key+pause, then device manager tab.
Your shortcut is even faster tho. :)
