new cals for advanced server 2000 help!

Ok so we can no longer purchase cals for advanced or
windows server. MS says anyone using thse technologies
can excersize thier downgrade rights. Does anyone know
what this means? anyone using windows 2000 who adds users
has to now upgrade to 2003? or can you use 2003 cals on a
2000 box? If this keeps up we may need a separate news
group just for licensing. Sorry for the frustation i just
dont appreciate forced upgrades.(if this is what it
means) Can anyone help me understand 1. anyone in need
of additional cals using windows or advanced server needs
to upgrade to 2003 server or can we use 2003 cals? 2.If
it is a server upgrade what is invovled as I have a
production sever running as a domain controller. Thanks
in advance for all replies. Again sorry for the
frustration. (something that should have taken a few
minutes now looks like its going to be a project)

This means if you buy Win 2k3 CALs you can legally use them on a Win 2k
domain. When/if you ever go to a Win 2k3 domain they are good also.
