New Button for Toolbar

For unknown reasons I lost the "New E-mail button" in my toolbar. So, I went into toolbars and dragged the "New E-mail Message" button from the "Customized Toolbar Dialogue Box" into the toolbar. The new button did appear in the toolbar, but it's faded. It stays faded and is, therefore, not usable. What do I need to do to "unfade" it?

If you lose buttons from a built-in toolbar - Reset it!

In this case....
View > Toolbars > Customise
Toolbars (Tab)
Standard (Toolbar) - Click on the Name to Select It
Reset (Button) Click It....

Thanks so much for your attempt to help me. Your suggestions I had already tried, but they didn't work.

Later on I realized that my friend had used me computer . She had installed "yahoo" which rendered my "Word" e-mail button on the toolbar useless. After I removed every trace of yahoo from my homepage this e-mail button came back to life again!
