I've been reading about the new BTX mainboard and case standards, but I
realise there aren't many BTX parts out there. Does anyone know if BTX
mainboards will be produced for Athlon 64 CPUs in the future? Also would
an Athl 64 be much quieter in a BTX system despite already having Cool n
Quiet technology? I'm thinking of upgrading to an Athlon 64 3000+ Venice.

BTX is an standard promoted by Intel due to the cooling requirements on the
last generation of CPU's Intel.
AMD-64 is far away of this cooling need and the regulat ATX standard is the
best solution for the last AMD-64 cpu generation.
Don't bother about BTX.
Venice and San Diego cores are the last type of cpu cores currently and
simple standard HFS solution is enough to have a good system.

AFAIK BTX is difficult to do for Athlon64 systems, as those need the
memory fairly close to the CPU (remember, built-in memory controller)
which apparently collides with BTX component placement.

You can build very quiet ATX systems as well, and as opposed to BTX you
can even cool your harddrives decently. (Guess what I think of BTX?)
Check out silentpcreview.com, plenty of ideas there...
