I run a couple of internet camera windows on my desktop all the time. I
also have some icons on the desktop which give me quick access to certain
web sites like CNN, EBay and etc.

My problem is that when I click one of my icons, it always causes the most
recently instantiated browser to go to the new site and thus it clobbers one
of my internet camera views.

Is there a way to alter the icons so that clicking them always starts a new
browser rather than having them take over the most recently instantiated
one?

Thanks,

Dennis

Right-click on your Desktop Internet Explorer icon and select:
Properties > Advanced and 'uncheck' "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts",
then click "Apply".

Carey,

That's close but not exactly what I'm looking for. I already know that if
I click on the Internet Explorer icon, it'll come up on a new brower window.
My problem involves icons on my desktop which go to specific web sites.

For example, if I'm looking at www.cnn.com, I can drop a link/icon to this
site onto my desktop and later, I can just double click the icon to go to
the site. But, unfortunately, this method only fires up a new browser if
one is not running. If one or more are already running, it will take over
the most recently instantiated and reuse it.

I edited the icons I'm having problems with and at Properties > Advanced,
there is no option such as you described. Is there another way to achieve
what I want?

Many thanks,

Dennis Gallagher

It's exactly what you are looking for. Internet Options - Advanced not Internet Shortcut's properties.

OK, I got it now. Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options > Advanced
and then turn off the options "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts.

Now, my problem is that when I fire up a web site via an icon this way, it
instantiates minimized. How can I fix this so I can click on an icon and
get a new copy of Internet Explorer which is not minimized?

Thanks!

Dennis

Firstly ensure it is minimised. R/c the taskbar button. Is Minimised greyed out. If not it is not minimised but offscreen or with zero size..
