Thanks,
I just saw it also. I was asking a few days ago about PCI Express and it
said Q2'04 for the top end cards, and also a new AGP card so the 9800XT
should get cheaper.

I am wondering what is the big deal on the rush for PCI Express. How many
people are buy a PCI Express motherboard if they have an expensive AGP video
card and who is going to buy a PCI Express video card if they will also have
to buy an expensive new motherboard? Oh well, guess in two years everyone
will be using PCI Express.

I spent a lot of money for a 1MB ISA video card even though I never needed
the whole 1 MB as 1024x768@256 color was very small on a 14" monitor. Then
it was a VLB video card, then PCI, then AGP, then 2x AGP, 4x AGP and now 8x
AGP.

I remember the first ISA vid-card I had was an EGA-compatible...didn't even do
VGA. I think I moved up to some sort of no-name ISA VGA card for my AMD 80386
DX40. Then it was Trident on VLB, then Hercules Dynamite Power VLB
w/the Et4000AX chipset (I spent almost 200.00$ on that card). I've spent way
too much money on computers and video cards.

LOL, join the club! I spend much more than I should too, especially
considering that I don't game nearly as much now as I did back in my heyday
of about 7 to 12 years ago! I still game of course and probably always
will, but I think hardware upgrades for me are becoming more about the hobby
aspect of things than anything else. This is especially true when I find
myself spending money to make upgrades to my second computer!

Yeah, I've been slacking off on following the new technology as
Pentium4 and winXP turned me off a few years back.

I see where this PCI express is the latest rage and I can't help
wondering if a bunch of Digital Rights Management technology is built
into the new standards.

PCIe and PCI-X, They are different standards. The trouble is that even a two
year old computer is fast enough for everything but high end 3D games. The
DRM stuff will be built into motherboards and BIOS. Like when Intel tried
the Pentium III serial number fiasco.

And people aren't doing anything about it.... M$ needs to be stoped!

Before we lose our computer rights completely... we're halfway there
now with WinXP... ;(
