I have two PCs and one of the PCs are about ready to be upgraded. It's a laptop and a desktop. I plan on networking these two PCs together with a broadband cable modem. I need to share files and browse the Internet. What equipment do I need and any places to get started would be helpful. Any suggestions?

Hey, all you would need is a router if you only have one
IP address from your ISP. You could get by with a
switch/hub if you have access to more than one IP from
your ISP but this is usually not the case. As far as
routers go, you can go to a place like CompUSA or Best
Buy and get a simple router from there that will fulfil
your home needs.
