[Cross posted IE.general and vista.general]

I've just encountered a new and strange error message that occurs only when
I try to open a site from Start|Favorites or from the folder
c:\user\favorites.

"Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error
Program c:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
This Application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual
way.
Please contact the application support team for more information."

After that, the Start menu and the Quicklaunch bar freeze for a few minutes
while the HDD thrashes; then returns to normal.

I can open these sites from within IE|Favorites with no problems.

I have tried deleting all the favorites and reimporting them, but nothing
seems to help.

Read through a ton of stuff via Google. Uninstalled some Yahoo stuff, and
the problem is fixed!

When installing vista Home Premium, we get to Completing Upgrade 55% and then
this message C:\windows\system32\oobe\setup.exe This application has
requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

Then it restarts and installs XP again.

When installing Vista, after "Completing Upgrade 55%", we get this message:
