New Activation when NO HARDWARE has changed?



After antivurs installation, Windows made me "reactivate" when no hardware
had changed. I reactivated in 3 seconds. But what is going on? I don't want
this to "count against me" should I ever actually change hardware!

The message said "hardware had changed significantly" which is bull.

I don't know what went wrong, but there's no need to be concerned about it
counting against you. Nothing counts against you, and you can change
hardware and reactivate as often as you want to.

I don't mean to question you, but I have read opinions that after a number
of activations, they get very suspicious. Or is this only an urban legend?!
I mean, do they keep track of the number of activations? I was able to
reactive easily, but it gave me only 3 days.

Well you did, so you obviously meant to. ;-)

But that's fine. Blindly taking anybody's word for something is never a good
idea, and I'm not at all insulted.

It's mostly an urban legend. It *may* vary somewhat depending on who you get
on the phone, but in my experience problems are very rare. And even if they
question you, you are entirely within your rights, and you should have no
problem if you just insist on your rights. Their suspicions (if they have
them) don't matter. Worst case, if someone gives you a hard time (again,
this is highly unlikely) just ask to speak to his supervisor. Don't ever let
somebody browbeat you when you are not doing anything wrong.
