I would take issue with this. The 'mode' of a WIN2000 Domain has absolutely
nothing to do with what clients are or are not available for use in that
domain.
Native Mode in WIN2000 simply does not allow for WINNT 4.0 BDCs. Mixed Mode
in WIN2000 does allow for WINNT 4.0 BDCs. It is that simple. Naturally,
there are a few things that become available when you make the one-time
switch from Mixed Mode to Native Mode, such as Universal Groups and Group
Nesting. But, again, that has absolutely nothing to do with what clients
are or are not available in a WIN2000 AD Domain.

Native mode Active Directory does not support Windows 98 machines on the
Domain(they are not treated as computers on the domain, so Domain user
access will not work), only Windows 2000 and higher.
To support Windows 98 machines you would've had to select Mixed Mode when
setting up the Active Directory...changing to Native mode is a one way
operation..no going back to mixed mode without wiping the Active Directory
and starting from scratch.
