For some reason I can not figure out why I can not see the IBM DeskStar
40gig 7200rpm HD I just put in as a secondary slave. My current
configuration is a 20gig as a primary master with a 120gig as a secondary
slave and then a TDK CD-RW as secondary master, and this IBM 40gig as the
secondary slave. I also have an NEC Zip 100 that is routed through a promise
PCI IDE controller.
So when booting if I go into BIOS, it sees and recognizes this drive as well
as all others. It is also seen when I go into device manager. But when I go
into windows explorer, I do not see it. Oh, and this is an XP Pro OS with an
ASUS AVN8X-E Deluxe Mobo with a Barton 2800+ and Patriot 1 gig set of DDR
3200 ram and a GeForce 3 Ti 200 128 DDR video card and a OKIA 350 Watt power
supply.
So what am I missing here? This disk is completely blank as I just got it
back on an RMA (warranty replace/,repair) from Hitachi. It has been a while
since I have put in a new drive and am sure I am missing something here. It
is late at night so it wouldn't surprise me, but eager to get this going.
Thought about the formatting, but figured XP Pro would say something if that
was the case. Can anyone here please help me? Thanks and would really
appreciate it.
