New 2nd Hard Drive

I am planning to add a 2nd hard drive to my XP system. However, my existing
drive is partitioned with the system files on the "d:" partition which is
the startup drive. (This used to be a dual boot system with 98 on the c:
drive). How can I add the second drive (which will automatically become d:
when installed) without having to reinstall everything (Operating system,
applications, etc).

When you install it, it will use the next available drive letter that is not
already in use. It will not take over as D:
