I run Windows 98. When I looked in my dial-up networking connections, I
found a new one which I had not made called:
OHNMEJFHOIHDDFOJBHBO-----
The connection number was an 0090 number. When I ran the search string '0900
telephone' through Google, they were all Turkish phone and fax numbers. I
have deleted this networking connection, but I need to work out what it is.
Any help gratefully received.

It may help you to know that the German government recently passed a
law that requires all dialers if they are supposed to stay legal in any
way to use a 0900-9 number (before, there were several alternatives to
plunder people by dialing). Perhaps what you got there originally was
made for those of us Germans too dumb to heed a warning that had been
issued for years ;)

Hi,

This may be a different problem with similar numbers involved.

Hackers using 1-900 to run up charges is not new in the U.S. My
neighbor received a large bill when his grandson's use of his
computer got a dialer installed. I advised him to refuse to pay
'in writing' and what to say. He received no more bills. I removed
the crapware that was dialing out.

I recommended he call the phone company, as I had done, and have a
block put on 1-900 calls from his phone number. It's free of charge
and prevents the same thing from happening again. The need for 1-900
access for avg person is nil. Should a need occur use a pay phone.

For info only, if not pertinent to the subject.
