Quote from CAT 3.10 release notes:

"Playing the game Neverwinter Night under Windows XP with an ATI RADEONT
9600 series card installed results in the game failing to respond. The issue
is already resolved and a fix will be made available in the next release of
CATALYSTT."

Great....so I'll have to wait for 3.11 then....

Next Cats will be 4.x :)
Anyway, I can play NWN just fine on my 9600 XT and Windows 2000. Enabled
Fastwrite is an absolte necessity. When disabled, the game crashes within
10-20 seconds of play. I do have an occasional BSOD with Cat 3.10 in the
game, which I didn't have with 3.9. But I suspect my soundcard to be the
culprit there. It sometimes behaves oddly since Cat 3.10. Some
incompatibility maybe.

Me too (there was an earlier thread about this)...Fast Writes on, no
problems, off crashes instantly...trouble is (for me) with fast writes on
pretty much everything else is corrupt (including desktop; corrupt icons,
mouse pointers messed up etc.) so I really cannot enable fast writes.

Excuse me for this naive question, but what is Fastwrite and where do
I go to set it "on"?

I'm having exactly that same problem with Neverwinter Night under
Windows XP with a HERCULES ATI RADEONT 9600 LE card.

Thanks in advance,

Thierry

There should be a setting in the advanced chipset options of the BIOS for
it, and there is a setting in SmartGart. Both must be on for it to function
properly. If you can't get it enabled, forget about playing NWN on a 9600
card. It's impossible without FastWrite.
