I have decided to use a second computer as a backup,so would like some advice.I am online with Comcast, and have my main computer here on the first floor. The backup computer will be in a 2nd floor room that has a Comcast connection. I have purchased a Linskys router and a Netgear PCI adapter 10/100 for the backup machine. The router I have installed down here next to my modem following the inst. that came with it. Now, I hope this isn't going to be a dumb question, but after I install the Netgear adapter in my backup machine upstairs, don't I need a hub to go through to hook up the coaxil cable, and then an ethernet cable from the hub to the machine? Thanks Keith

Has your router not got a hub built into it? If it has simply run some coax straight through cable to the backup pc. If it hasnt got a hub built in then the best method would be to buy a hub and do the following:

Modem -> Router -> Hub -> coax to both pc's.

or

send back your router and get a home router kit with a 4 port hub built in, this would work out cheaper than having a router and a hub, would be less configuration and generally makes much more sense for your needs.

Most Routers have hubs anyway and they dont use Coax they use straight ethernet m8

Sorry for correcting you, but it may confuse people

I think I got the wrong info from someone at the store,as they said wired would be cheaper and easier then wireless. So what I've got to do now is buy enough cat5 to reach my other computer? As far as, " Sorry for correcting you, but it may confuse people",no problem, just thanks for your help. Keith
