Hello,I Am having problms connecting 2 computers together, both are windows
xp home machines...

They use dial-up connection

They are both connected directly using a

Ethernet RJ-45 cable.

both have a 10/100 ethernet card

I Want to transfer files and folders, printers etc. between each computer but
they can not communicate with each other [says network cable is unpluged]
but the cable is plugged into each computer directly,

is there something else That i need to do or buy....it mentions A Netweork
hub, what is a hub and what is it for if i am connectly only 2 computers
directly....

i want both computers to connect to the internet [dial-up] seperately using
same phone line[diferent times] unless is easy to understand how toi share
connection....

can someone tell me how to connect the 2 computers together using the RJ-45
Cat 5 cable, or is something else needed to be done..maybe something wrong
with the IP Address etc.

When connecting two machines together directly, you need to
use a cross-over cable. You could also choose to buy a
router or a hub and use patch cables instead.

When connecting two computers together using an RJ-45
cable you must use what is called a crossover cable.
There are 8 wires in an RJ-45 and in a standard cable the
wires go straight through from one plug to the other
(probably what you are using now). On a crossover cable
the 1st/3rd and 2nd/6th wires are swapped on either end so
you don't need a hub.

Hope this helps.
