I'm conected to internet through a CABLE MODEM and a HUB
using Win XP Professional, then I conected a laptop to a
hub using Win 98, both of them has Internet Conection
and, from Win XP I can see the laptop and it Hardrive,
but from Win98 I can not see the computer with Win xp and
it tells me that it is unable to browse the network. Any
help ????

Try changing the IP on the XP machine so it has a lower IP
than the windows 98 box, I don't know why this worked for
me. I also went to a command prompt and ran ipconfig and
released all IP and and renewed them. (ipconfig /release)
(ipconfig /renew)

Win98 cannot read the NTFS (NT File System) used by WinXP. So, unless there
is a FAT16 or FAT32 formatted partition on the WinXP hard drive that has
been shared, the notebook has nothing that it can read on the WinXP machine.
The reverse, that the WinXP machine can read the files on the Win98 machine,
is correct.

This is incorrect. The file system has nothing to do with the ability of
any windows operating system to network with any other windows system.
Win98 does not have to read the ntfs file system to share a file. The XP
computer reads its own file system then shares any shared files with the
win98 computer.
 
Here is what you do, remove all the protocols and services
on you adapter and reboot the 98 machine, install Client
for microsoft and TCP/IP and enable file and print
sharing. Reboot the machine again and you should see the
Microsoft network login come up, thats the key, it it
comes up your gold, then you must login, do not cancel.
I have seen this before, by starting over it will work, 98
has problems like this
