I had two computers networked and the other day I enabled
the firewall b/c I was scared of getting that virus.
Now, I retried to use the set up home/small network tool
in network tasks on both computers and they dont network
together. I hadnt gotten any error messages until the
last time I tried in which it said, "Cannot Complete the
Network Setup Wizard An error occured during
configuration of the network on this computer. You can
configure your network manually, or you can run the
wizard again with different settings." However, i have
tried it with every setting possible. What can I do?
Please help, thanks.

Please reply to this message in the news group (not by E-mail) with
more information to help other people understand your network setup.

What type of Internet connection do you have: dial-up, broadband
(cable modem, DSL, satellite), or other?

How do your computers connect to the Internet? Is one computer acting
as an Internet Connection Sharing host? Do you have a router?
Something else?

The answers to those questions will determine the proper setup.

The computers connect through a
wireless router which connects to DSL, one is a desktop
hard wired and the other is a laptop which is wireless
I tried the set up network wizard which had worked in the
past and now do not work. They give the above error
message in the first posting i put.
Thanks so much for your help.

Since your computers connect to the Internet through a router, the
setup is simple. Open the Network Connections folder, right click the
wired or wireless network connection and:

1. Click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) | Properties and configure it to
obtain an IP address automatically.

2. Click Advanced and disable the Internet Connection Firewall. Your
router acts as a firewall, and XP's firewall blocks file and printer
sharing.
