my pc in the office is using win 2000 proffesional. it is
conected via LAN. In the morning, i could still browse the
internet. At noon, i couldn't. I was calling the LAN
administrator wether the server is working or not. They
said that it is working. I had tried to do the ping-
command in the MS-DOS and it is requested out. The gateway-
addres is not changed. what should i do? Any help will be
apriciated

Romy...

Unless you're routing through your 'server' to get to the Internet, which is
not usually the case, the server has nothing to do with your access to the
Internet, unless you don't have an IP address and it is the DHCP server,
etc.

Ping is not a reliable utility to see if a network device is alive. If ICMP
requests are denied then ping will fail even if the device is alive. You
stated you executed ping but you did not specify which address you targeted.

Perhaps you should contact the LAN Admin again and inform them you do not
have access to the net?!
