Ronny,

Your problem report sort of lacks details that would allow a more intensive
diagnosis. Try this document, which has the answers:

Are you using the NTFS on the XP box? If so, then every directory has
permissions for it. Right click on the directory you are trying to access
and choose Sharing & Security. Make sure the Everyone group is on the list
with full privledges.

Also, there is an Administrator account for your pc and it does make use of
a password. The password may, in fact, be left blank, but there is still a
password associated with the account.

Using Jack's recommendation to check ezlan.net (see XP HE problem just below
this thread) fixed my problem. From ezlan.net I went to simple sharing and
that was where I found the holy grail.

Run the Network Setup Wizard on XP Pro to fully enable file sharing.
That's often all that's needed.

If that doesn't fix the problem, the solution depends on whether
you've enabled or disabled simple file sharing.

With simple file sharing enabled, make sure that the Guest account is
enabled for network access on XP Pro by typing this line at a command
prompt:

net user guest /active:yes

With simple file sharing disabled, create a user account on XP Pro
that has the same user name and password that you use to log onto
Win98.
