Help! I disabled the firewall on the XP machines to
network with my windows 2000 desktop/print server. Now,
my windows 2000(with a new IP address) can not print to
my Large Format printer on the network.

I image my problem is in the DNS Server addresses. If I
have windows automatically obtain an IP address and DNS,
no problem I can ping all of my computers and the
printer. But, no printing capabilities.

Can anyone please offer some networking assistance.
Thanks,
Syd

1. If you are using a static IP address, make sure that you use an IP
address on the same logical IP subnet as the printer.
2. Make sure that you can ping the printer.
3. Install the appropriate printer drivers.
4. Since this is probably a printer with built-in print server (since it has
an IP address of it's own), make sure that you set the printer properites
accordingly. You may need to select Add port under printer properties, then
select Standar TCP/IP port and follow the wizard.
You might also want to first check the printer documentation for the correct
settings to use.
