I have an XP Home and ME computer connected to a router.
They are both connected to the internet this way, the
DCHP assigning both a local IP address, each one can see
itself on the "network" [although I couldn't get XP to
see itself until I temporarily disabled Norton Internet
Firewall]. In two different programs, I looked at the
network and there were both computers--the ME PC
accessible--the XP not. I have been able to transfer
files via Remote Administrator software between the
PC's. What I can't do, is get them to see each other in
Network Places. XP's firewall is disabled and each one
has the same workgroup name. I've thought about
uninstalling Norton AV and Firewall, and trying again.
Might that be worth it? Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

Yes, it's worth uninstalling the Norton programs. That's the only way
to tell whether they're causing the network problems.
