i was wondering if anybody knows how to network 98 and XP
because i have tried many sources, none of which are
useful. the 98 computer has two hard drives, and XP has
one. both are set up for networking and they are both
connected to a LINKSYS hub that connects them to the
internet. THE CANNOT SEE EACH OTHER.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi CK,

The basics are that both machines need to be on the same
workgroup and have the same subnet mask of 255.255.255.0.
If you have any firewalls running especially the XP
firewall disable or remove while troubleshooting. The XP
firewall should be disabled on local area networks. It's
only for direct connections to the Internet. If you can
explain what you have done so far, describe the symptoms
and or errors it would be a big help.
