I have XP Home Ed on my desktop and WIndows 2000 PRO on
the lap top and am trying to network them. I have run the
wizard on the home computer but can't seem to get any
kind of networking accomplished on the 2000 machine.
Also, when i open the windows explorer and try to explore
the network, nothing is visible even on the home machine.

My linksys wireless connection is working fine on both
machines but i can't do file or print sharing on either.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
steve

1. Permanently disable XP's built-in Internet Connection Firewall on
local area network connections -- it's for use only on a direct modem
connection to the Internet. Disable and un-install all other
firewalls while troubleshooting. Details here:

Windows XP Internet Connection Firewall

2. Use only one protocol for File and Printer Sharing. If the network
needs more than one protocol, unbind File and Printer Sharing from all
but one of them. Details here:

Windows XP Network Protocols

3. Make sure that NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled on both computers.
Details here:

Enable NetBIOS Over TCP/IP (NetBT)
