I have a peer to peer network linking 6 windows XP
machines and am trying to add my windows 2000 professional
laptop to the network. I have been unable to establish a
network connection in either direction, but get no error
messages to indicate the source of the problem. I'm told
that Windows 2000 Pro and Windows XP should communicate
easily, but it does not seem to be the case for me. Does
anyone have any suggestions on what I need to do to
resolve this problem?

Thanks in advance.

What does ipconfig tell you?

I don't know...I'm clueless when it comes to networking
and to top it off, I have to disconnect the laptop from
the network because my internet connection is in another
building. Are there settings that need to be identical in
order for them to talk? Sorry I don't apparently know
enough to ask the right questions.
