up until now, all of our workstations at work use Win98SE. we need to
connect to one Win2000 server and one Novell 3.12 server (our business is
run on some customer software that only runs on Novell). I have our first
XP machines in house. the machines have XP Home.

Currently, we use Client for Microsoft Networks to log onto our Win2000
server using the domain name. We then use Microsoft Client for Netware and
set the default server to our Novell server name.

Does anyone have any help to tell me how to do this same thing with XP? Can
it be done using XP Home? I don't even see a place to put the default
domain name.

The short answer is no. XP cannot log onto a Windows domain. In truth, XP
Home is just that - a home operating system. In a business environment you
must go with pro.

That said, you can log on locally to an XP home machine and still access
basic shares, but it's really more like a workgroup environment. You won't
be able to enforce group policy, assign logon scripts, or any other of the
thngs that make Windows domain administration so great.
