Networking with Router

I am trying to establish a small home network between my
desktop and laptop, both running XP-Pro.

I have DSL with a Linksys router.

I am having no problems using the internet but I can't
share files and/or printer. When I click on my network,
I can see all drives on both computers but I can't access
files.

On my Desktop, I can click on my "laptop c drive" and I
get only a Desktop.ini configuration settings file. But,
on my Laptop, I can click on my "desktop c drive" and I
get an error telling me the Network path was not found.

Please help with this problem! Thanks in advance for
your help!
 
We can assume you have sharing turned on both computers, and you have both
on the same workgroup name, and no firewalls in the way.
