I have 2 computers both running WinXP Pro. My setup is:
ISP to Modem to Router to Hub to Computer "A" &
Computer "B". Both Computers belong to the same workgroup
and the WinXP firewall on both is turned off.
I did the "Setup a home or small office network" thing
in "My Network Connections" on both computers.
On Computer "A" when I go to "View workgroup computers" I
can see an icon for computer "B". When I click on the
icon I get the message "\\ComputerA is not accessible,
you might not have permission and contact the
administrator. The network path was not found." I am the
administrator!!!!!!!
On Computer "B", it tells me that the workgroup is not
currently accessible and to contact the administrator.

Computer "A" cannot ping Computer "B" and vice versa.
Both computers can however ping the router.

I tried the IP\config (all, release, renew) thing and all
seemed ok.

How can I fix this?
Can anybody tell me the syntax (Example:
\\computerA\shareddocs )to map a network drive?
I really am at a loss on this.

Help me Obiewan Kenobe, you're my only hope!!!

Just wanted to let you know that you're not alone in your
problem. I have a simple peer to peer network with one
crossover cable and the computers still can't ping each
other. I don't have this figured out yet but I have
noticed some things that might help you understand it
better.
I used the same systems but with an Windows ME and 2000.
They could then ping each other. This leaves me to
believe that it's deep within XP. Possibly a security
protocol which needs to be disabled. I still don't have
the full answer yet.
