I have ben trying (unsucessfully) for several weeks to set up a home
network consisting of my computer (WinXP Pro) and 2 other computers in the
house-both of which are Windows 2000 Professional. Where can I find step by
step instructions for setting up this network? I use a LAN to connect to
the Internet (Roadrunner). Also use a router. Thanks in advance.

Run the Network Setup Wizard on XP, and tell it that the computer
connects to the Internet through a residential gateway (router).

There is no Wizard for 2000. Configure its TCP/IP settings to obtain
an IP address automatically, and set the workgroup name to the same
name that XP uses (default is MSHOME).
