Networking Win2000 to WinXP

I've networked my XP and 2000 machines. They both
immediately connected to the internet, but didn't see
each other. On the XP I right clicked
Start|Explore|Tools|Map Network Drive, entered the path
to a specific file on the 2000 and 15 seconds later My
Network Places on the XP shows all the shared files from
the 2000.

The Problem: I tried the same technique from the 2000
and I get the message "The network path . . . could not
be found" I've tried several path names, double checked
that they were typed accurately, but it doesn't work.
Any suggestions?

I'm not running the XP firewall. I have McAfee and I
understood that my Linksys router also acts as a
firewall. I've looked into pinging, but can't figure out
how to do it.

Are you running the XP firewall? Can you ping from the 2K to the XP?
