I've networked my XP and 2000 machines. They both
immediately connected to the internet, but didn't see
each other. On the XP I right clicked
Start|Explore|Tools|Map Network Drive, entered the path
to a specific file on the 2000 and 15 seconds later My
Network Places on the XP shows all the shared files from
the 2000.

The Problem: I tried the same technique from the 2000
and I get the message "The network path . . . could not
be found" I've tried several path names, double checked
that they were typed accurately, but it doesn't work.
Any suggestions?

Make sure both computers are in the same workgroup and all useraccounts
exist on all computers.

try the following for the paths

\\server\c$

or create a specific share. You can only make the you share, not the
specific sub dir of the location of the file or the specific file itself.
