i want to network 3 comps using a dsl router. 2 comps
are running win 2000 and one is running win xp. for sme
reason, i cannot see the win 2000 machines n the network
from the xp machine. can anyone help me network these so
that i can share files and printers?

Make sure all computers are in the same workgroup and that all useraccounts
exist on all computers (W2K/XP's). Got File- and printersharing loaded? Is
Netbios over TCP/IP enabled (Advanced properties of TCP/IP, tab WINS)?

I am having the same problem with W2000 and 98SE. Did you
by any chance purchase the Linksys BEFW11s4?

Byron,

Put both computers in the same workgroup.

Make sure ICF is disabled on the WinXP computer, and that there are no
other firewall programs running on either.

On the WinXP computer, open Local Security Settings (Control Panel -
Administrative Tools - Local Security Policy). Under Local Policies -
Security Options, ensure that "Network Security: - Sharing and
security model for local accounts" is set to "Classic - local users
authenticate as themselves".

Setup and use a common account / password on both computers.

Cheers,

Chuck
