I've got a delimma. We're using for an office application two printers

1) HP Deskjet 612C connected to the local LPT1 port

2) FUJITSU 3450 dot matrix connected to a remote server

We were using Win98 and just upgraded to XP PRO, everything worked nice with
win98 (love the '98!!...best year ever)

Anyway, The problem the HP printer is connected to LPT1
The Fujitsu is also showing remotely as connected to LPT1 (the remote server
has it setup on LPT1)

So when I try to print to the fujitsu, it doesn't work. It only prints to
the HP.

I tried changing the port of Fujitsu from the workstation (an option in '98
allows port mapping). Unfortunately on Win XP this doesn't work as it
changes the port on the remote server and in result prevent printing.

Any suggestions on this ?? I absolutely need both printers working on the
workstation. Why did MSFT have to take the port mapping option off XP !! It
worked so great, you could connect tons of remote printers to one
workstation.

Thank you,

Tamouh H.

You need to SHARE the Fujitsu on the remote system.
Then run the Add Printer wizard on the XP System.
Use the 'A network printer' option.
Select 'Connect to this printer'
Type \\servername\Fuji_printer_share_name (see other system to see
what's its shared as)
Then install drivers as necessary.
